Liang Zhang (Zhang Liang) is a Chinese conductor and pianist, born on 29 October 1979 in Taizhou, Jiangsu Province. He began the piano at the age of five and from 1989 to 1998 attended the elementary and middle schools affiliated with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, studying piano and composition with Wu Zijie, Jiang Qin and Deng Erbo, and conducting with Zhang Mei from 1996. He then continued his studies in conducting and piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Uroš Lajovic, David Lively and J. G. Jiracek.

Since 2010 he has been chief conductor of the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, of which he is also deputy director. He has conducted orchestras including the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, the Macao Orchestra, the China National Opera House Orchestra and the Shanghai Opera House Orchestra, as well as ensembles in Vienna, and has collaborated with soloists such as Peter-Lukas Graf, Ryu Goto, Sumi Jo and Lynn Harrell. With the Shanghai Philharmonic he has recorded a complete cycle of the Beethoven symphonies, and in 2026 he conducted the orchestra in Yu-Peng Chen's The Poem of Life for Deutsche Grammophon.
