Yu-Peng Chen (Chen Yupeng, also known by his stage name Chen Zhiyi) is a Chinese composer, pianist and music producer, born on 15 January 1984 in Changsha, Hunan. He studied clarinet at the Shenzhen Arts School before entering the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2002, where he moved from clarinet to composition and graduated in music design and production from the newly founded Department of Music Engineering in 2007.

He first made his name as a film and television composer, co-writing the score of The Last Tycoon (2012) with Chan Kwong-wing, which earned a nomination for Best Original Film Score at the Hong Kong Film Awards, and winning the Golden Deer Award for Best Original Music Score at the Changchun Film Festival for The Founding of an Army (2017). He also scored The House That Never Dies and co-scored The Captain (2019).

From 2019 to 2023 he led the music production of the video game Genshin Impact at HOYO-MiX, the in-house studio of miHoYo, composing and co-composing a large body of soundtrack albums whose blend of Western symphonic writing with traditional Chinese instruments brought him worldwide recognition. He left HOYO-MiX in 2023 to pursue independent projects, releasing the solo album FANTASYLAND in 2024.

In 2025 he signed with Deutsche Grammophon, becoming the first Chinese composer on the label. His first album for DG, The Poem of Life (2026), is a twelve-movement symphonic suite for piano and orchestra depicting the stages of life, recorded by the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra under Zhang Liang with Chen himself as piano soloist and guests including Daniel Hope, Avi Avital and Philipp Schupelius.
