Clara Andrada de la Calle is a Spanish flautist born in Salamanca. She began studying the flute at the age of four with Pablo Sagredo at the Syrinx School of Music and went on to the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Salamanca, where she received the End of Studies Prize. After advanced courses with Magdalena Martínez, she studied with Emmanuel Pahud and José-Daniel Castellon at the Geneva Conservatory, obtaining the Soloist Diploma, and then with Jaime Martín at the Royal College of Music in London, where she earned a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours and a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance with Distinction. She gained orchestral experience with the Spanish National Youth Orchestra (JONDE) and the European Union Youth Orchestra, which awarded her the Mick Baines Prize in 2004. Since 2005 she has been principal flute of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and, since 2011, also of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, and she has appeared as guest principal flute with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic. Her recordings include flute concertos by Arturo Márquez, Xavier Montsalvatge and Joan Albert Amargós (2013) and by Jacques Ibert and Carl Nielsen (2018). She teaches the master's flute class at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón. In 2018 she received the Premio El Ojo Crítico of Radio Nacional de España for classical music.
