Justin Doyle (born 1975 in Lancaster) is a British conductor. He grew up in a musical family and began his musical education as a chorister at Westminster Cathedral, later becoming a choral scholar at King's College, Cambridge. In 2006 he won second prize at the Cadaqués Orchestra International Conducting Competition in Barcelona, and he was awarded the inaugural Conductor Fellowship of the BBC Singers. Since the 2017-18 season he has been Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the RIAS Kammerchor Berlin, with which he has made numerous recordings, including works by Britten. He was Professor of Choral Conducting at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin from 2018 to 2022 and Visiting Professor for Choral Conducting and Early Music at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki from 2019 to 2024. As a guest conductor he has worked with choirs such as the Swedish Radio Choir, the MDR Radio Choir, the Eric Ericson Kammarkör and the Norwegian Soloists' Choir, and with orchestras including the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, the Finnish Baroque Orchestra, the Orchestra of Opera North, the Royal Northern Sinfonia and the Kammerakademie Potsdam. He is also active in opera, particularly Mozart, Haydn and Britten, at Garsington Opera, the Buxton Festival and the Winteroper Potsdam. Source: Rondo DB
