Alexander Gergelyfi is an Austrian keyboard player born in Linz who specialises in historical keyboard instruments (harpsichord, clavichord and fortepiano). He studied harpsichord, historical keyboards and early music performance practice in Linz, Graz, Strasbourg and Hamburg, notably with Menno van Delft and Gerhart Darmstadt. He has a strong interest in how his instruments developed and in researching Austrian music of the 17th and 18th centuries.

He is a permanent member of the Stuttgart Baroque orchestra il Gusto Barocco. From 2014 to 2017 he played with the Berlin ensemble nexus baroque. He has also worked with the Neue Hofkapelle Graz, L'Orfeo Barockorchester, Concentus Musicus Wien, Compagnia Transalpina, Barucco, Jordi Savall's recreationBAROCK and the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg under Antonello Manacorda. With his ensemble Verbotene Frucht (voice, violin, cello and harpsichord) he recorded the award-winning albums Morbides mit Charakter (2018) and Liebe auf den ersten Schluck (2022).

His first solo album, Sapperlot! (Carpe Diem Records, 2022), is a portrait of Austrian keyboard music from the 17th and 18th centuries, played on what is probably the oldest surviving Austrian clavichord. In 2023 he made his debut at the Salzburg Festival in the Kleine Nachtmusiken series with the baritone Georg Nigl, with whom he has appeared there every year since. Together they recorded Mozart's Clavichord (Alpha Classics, 2025). Since 2018 he has taught clavichord, historical continuo and historical performance practice at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Source: Rondo DB
