Justus Eichhorn (Justus Friedrich Eichhorn) is a German pianist and composer, born in 2009 in Weimar into a family of musicians: his parents, the violinists Friedemann and Alexia Eichhorn, both teach at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar. He began improvising at the piano at the age of three and took his first lessons at six with Helene and Sebastian Roth, making his concerto debut at ten in Haydn's Piano Concerto in D major. He studies with Grigory Gruzman at the Weimar Hochschule, with a particular interest in the music of Carl Czerny, and also studies conducting; he has been invited for lessons by Christoph Eschenbach and Sir András Schiff. He won first prize at the Carl Bechstein Competition in Berlin in 2019 and, with cellist Albrecht Freytag, first prize and a special prize for outstanding duo performance at the German national youth music competition in 2024. Signed by Deutsche Grammophon, he released his debut album The Source in 2026, which includes three of his own compositions. He also performs his own piano arrangements, such as of the Largo from Vivaldi's Flautino Concerto RV 443, and has built a large online following for his performances. Source: Rondo DB
