Jean-Marc Luisada is a French pianist, born on 3 June 1958 in Bizerte, Tunisia. He began the piano at the age of six and entered the Conservatoire de Paris at sixteen, studying piano with Dominique Merlet and Marcel Ciampi and chamber music with Geneviève Joy-Dutilleux; he later worked with Nikita Magaloff and Paul Badura-Skoda. He won a prize at the 11th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1985, and Chopin has remained at the heart of his career, with acclaimed recordings of the Waltzes and Mazurkas and a chamber version of the Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Talich Quartet. In 1998 he signed an exclusive contract with RCA Red Seal. A devoted interpreter of the Romantic repertoire, who has described himself as a man of the 19th century, he also teaches at the École normale de musique de Paris Alfred Cortot. Source: Rondo DB
