Arnaud Thorette is a French violist and artistic director born in Nouméa, New Caledonia in 1977. He studied at the CRR of Versailles and then at the CNSMD of Lyon with violist Tasso Adamopoulos, obtaining his National Superior Diploma in Musical Studies in 2003 with unanimous approval and jury commendations. Named "Révélation Classica" in 2006, he has won five international prizes and recorded about forty albums acclaimed by French and international press. For over twenty years, alongside pianist Johan Farjot, he has been artistic director of Ensemble Contraste, renewing the approach to classical concerts. He has performed in about forty countries and has been invited as soloist with major orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège, Marseille Opera Orchestra, and Munich Radio Orchestra. As a creator of contemporary works, he has recorded viola concertos by Karol Beffa, Philippe Hersant, and Johan Farjot.
