J. Hindrich Paulsen, also known as Johan Henrich Poulson, was a Danish violinist and music director who played a leading role in the musical life of Bergen in the early 19th century. A pupil of the Italian violinist Giovanni Battista Viotti, he moved to Bergen, Norway, in 1799 and remained there until 1826, appearing as a recitalist and serving as concertmaster of Musikselskabet Harmonien, the society that later became the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. He succeeded Ole Pedersen Rødder as director of Harmonien, leading the orchestra from 1805 to 1806 and again from 1809 to 1820, before handing over to Mathias Lundholm. He is also remembered as the first violin teacher of the young Ole Bull, who would become Norway's first internationally celebrated violin virtuoso. Source: Rondo DB
