Benjamin Ohle (died 1770) was a German-born organist, cantor and music director active in Bergen, Norway. A native of Lübeck, he settled in Bergen, where he served as organist of St Mary's Church (Mariakirken) from 1750 to 1755 and was then confirmed as organist of Nykirken on 16 May 1755. From 1766 he was also cantor of Mariakirken, and he returned to the organ there in his final years, holding the posts until his death in 1770. In 1769 he succeeded the town musician Samuel Lind as director of Det Musicalske Selskab - the society later known as Musikselskabet Harmonien and today as the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra - leading it until 1770, when the violinist Niels Haslund took over. His son Marcus Gotthard Ohle (1747-1817) succeeded him as cantor and held that post from 1770 until 1817. Source: Rondo DB
