Henrik Willy Olsen (1867-1936) was a conductor active in Germany, who served as Kapellmeister of the Dresden Gewerbehaus orchestra, the forerunner of the Dresdner Philharmonie, from 1903 to 1915. His tenure saw a marked increase in the orchestra's touring activity. Most notably, in 1909 he led the orchestra, billed as The Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, on an extensive North American tour, among the first undertaken by a European orchestra, with concerts in New York, Syracuse, Toronto, Detroit, Cincinnati and elsewhere. Concert records from the Gewerbehaus also associate him with performances of works by Lothar Kempter in 1904 and 1909. The outbreak of the First World War in 1914, when many of the musicians were called up, put the orchestra's existence at risk, and in 1915 he was succeeded by Edwin Lindner, who reorganised it as the Dresdner Philharmonisches Orchester.
