Michael Zimmermann was a German conductor active in Dresden in the 1880s. In 1885, when founding conductor Hermann Mannsfeldt left for Berlin, Zimmermann took over as Kapellmeister of the Gewerbehaus orchestra, the forerunner of today's Dresdner Philharmonie, leading it artistically for the 1885/86 season. During his tenure the ensemble was officially renamed Kapelle des Gewerbehauses. He was succeeded in 1886 by Ernst Stahl, who led the orchestra until 1890. Little further biographical information about him has survived. Source: Rondo DB
