In 2005 the London Philharmonic Orchestra established its own CD label in response to the changes in the recording industry. The major labels were reducing the number of new classical recordings that they were releasing, which meant that we were missing the chance to share part of the orchestra's performing history. The orchestra fully owns the LPO Label, which means we have full control over what music we release. Our recordings are taken mainly from live concerts, new and old. The catalogue offers a range of recent performances with our Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski or guest conductors. It's also a chance to explore outstanding archive recordings with some of our former Principal Conductors: Beecham, Boult, Haitink, Solti, Tennstedt and Masur. (Rondo DB)
