New Albion records was a new-music label founded in 1983 by Foster Reed. It was named after what Sir Francis Drake named the San Francisco Bay after being the first European to see the area, which was near where the label was founded. During the mid-2000s, after over 20 years there, Reed relocated the label and his family to the upper Hudson valley of New York state. In 2010, the label ceased its retail operations. In 2012 the label closed completely and returned stock of unsold CDs to the artists. (Rondo DB)
