Definition: An ensemble of four singers. This type of ensemble can be mixed gender or single gender. Mixed gender ensembles usually consist of a soprano, an alto, a tenor, and a bass. Male groups usually consist of a first tenor, a second tenor, a baritone, and a bass. Female groups usually consist of a first soprano, a second soprano, a mezzo-soprano, and a contralto.
