The largest concert choir within the German Broadcasting Corporation (ARD), the MDR Leipzig Radio Choir has won praise from conductors such as Herbert von Karajan, Kurt Masur, Colin Davis, Simon Rattle, Neville Marriner, Seiji Ozawa, Lorin Maazel, Bernard Haitink, Riccardo Muti and Roger Norrington. Acclaimed a cappella performances demonstrate the choir’s expertise beyond choral-symphonic works. Sacred music and opera choruses complete a repertoire that encompasses practically a millennium of musical history, including the contemporary, with numerous world premières. Since 1998 Howard Arman has been conductor and artistic director of the MDR Leipzig Radio Choir. An illustrious line of predecessors includes Herbert Kegel, Wolf-Dieter Hauschild and Jörg-Peter Weigle. Naxos
